The Panchachuli group consists of five prominent snow-capped Himalayan peaks located in the eastern Kumaon region near the Darma Valley.
In Hindu mythology and local Kumaoni lore, 'Panchachuli' translates to the "Five Cooking Hearths" (Chulhas) where the Pandavas cooked their final meal on earth before ascending towards Swargarohini (heaven).
From Bhanumati Homestay in Chaukori, all five peaks are visible in a magnificent straight horizontal alignment, creating one of the most celebrated mountain panoramas in the world.
6,355 meters (20,850 ft). First climbed in 1973 by an Indo-Tibet Border Police expedition.
6,904 meters (22,651 ft). The highest and most prominent pyramid peak in the group.
6,312 meters (20,709 ft). Steep, sharp ridge peak presenting dramatic ice cornices.
6,334m & 6,437m. The southern guardians overlooking the Gori Ganga and Darma valleys.
